25/06/08 - We’re getting there!
Been a while since I updated things but the good news is the album has progressed quite a bit and things are starting to come together at last.
04/03/08 - Macs Rock!
07/02/08 - Mac Pro ordered and on its way!
Totally had enough now of M$ Windows and have made the switch to Apple Mac. I’ve ordered a 2nd Generation 8 core Mac Pro with 4GB of RAM and I’m looking forward to a smoother running studio:)
25/10/07 - DISASTER!!!
How unlucky can one man be? After a good recording session the other day I had a break and took the dog for a walk. When I returned to the studio to continue BOTH my audio interfaces had died! One would have been bad but both means I can’t do any work at all AARRRHHH!!! It’s going to take about two week to get them back to Germany for repair. This now seriously hinders my efforts to get the album ready for Christmas, and just when it was looking like I was finely going to hit a deadline... Bollocks!
14/10/07 - More serious studio upgrades
An enormous summer spend has just about ended with a large amount of very high-end gear being purchased for the studio. Recent purchases include:
- SSL X-Rack system
- Multiple API EQs & mic pre’s
- Brand new Focal monitoring system
- UA1176 compressor
- ... and lots more!
My album is progressing at a much more satisfactory rate and dare I say, will hopefully be ready for Christmas 2007... but lets not speak too soon eh!
10/05/07 - Steve’s Gear page has been updated with new pics and info
08/04/07 Long time no news!
Hi guys & gals! It’s been a while since I’ve updated the site and the news page . Here’s what’s new:
Got myself a whole new guitar rig set-up for the new band, a Mesa Boogie Roadster combo, Boss DD20, Boss CE20 & I’ve added a new member to my PRS collection, a 20th anniversary Custom 22 in Black Cherry, an absolute beauty! I wanted to get away from the rack set-up and have a more basic aggressive & raw tone. The new set-up really sings, great clean tones, mega aggressive crunch sounds and that sweet mid-rangey lead tone I like... well chuffed! I’ll update the Gear page soon with pics.
As far as the album goes I’ve decided to put things on hold until I’ve bought more gear for the studio. I know I’m over picky but I’m still not happy with the level and quantity of EQs and compressors I’ve got, so I’m going to hold off releasing until later. Hopefully everything should be upgraded in time for a Christmas release, which is probably a better time to get better sales for the charity anyway.
New band web site goes live!
The new band now has its own web site. Check it out at www.minorhysteria.com
18/01/07 - New band name
The new band finally has a name “Minor Hysteria” its not the greatest name ever but then what is? After a while people just accept that’s what you’re called. Really think about names like Take That, Wet Wet Wet and you’ll see what I’m on about. I mean, “Take That” what a crap name, but folks just accept it cause they’ve heard it so much!
23/11/06 - What a gig!
The new band got off to a flying start with a storming first gig. Pics coming soon!!!
04/11/06 - First gig with new band
We have arrange a warm up gig with my new band on the 23/11/06 in Huddersfield
15/08/06 - Album audio preview now on projects page
The news tile kind of speaks for itself real!
22/0706 - Last Gig With BTS!
After nearly ten year of playing with Big Time Stateside we finally decided to call it a day

10/7/06 - Studio refit, album release delayed
After spending very long trying very hard I’m still not happy with the results I’ve being getting with my recordings. I’ve come to realize that trying to record and mix using only software mixers, compressors and EQ doesn’t work (actually I’ve always known that I’ve just been living in denial). As a result I’m cashing in my saving and going for a serious studio upgrade. An in-line console giving me 56 inputs on mix down, more very high-end compressors, high-end AD/DA converters and a lot wood work rebuilding my control room! More info & photos in the “Studio” section coming soon
I’m now hoping to have the album ready for Christmas 2006
18/03/06 - Stop making deadlines!
I've decided that if I stop waisting time dreaming up deadlines for the album release, I might actually get the bloody thing finished! Seriously though, recent events, like having to have my dog castrated, has meant I've had to spend time looking after him to stop him licking where his balls used to be so the wound can heal (gross!). No set release date but sometime this summer would be good!
28/02/06 – More gear for the studio!
I've just bought another Focusrite ISA220, this time with Focusrite's proprietary A/D converters . That's nearly £3000 worth of compression, EQ & mic pre's now I have two! Also, the kind people at Native Instruments & Sonic8/fxpansion have been good enough to supply me with some new very advance sample software. In short, if it sounds crap now there's only me to blame not the gear!
31/12/05 - Happy New Year!
Its only 9.00pm and I'm already merry!
Happy new year when 12.00am arrives everyone and all the best for 2006. Lets hope the album can raise a healthy amount for the good people at Cancer Research!!! CHEERS!!!
30/12/05 - Another Album Up Date!
Despite recent set-backs things seem to be progressing nicely. Time off work over the Christmas period has given me a bit more time in the studio.
23/11/05 - Album Release Deadline "Dead"!
I've now resigned myself to the fact that there no chance of having the album ready for release by Christmas this year. Personal and work commitments have left me with too little time in the studio, therefore my new goal is an Easter release. As before any progress reports will be posted on my site.
01/08/05 - My First Solo Album!
